It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This Week’s Hometown Hero is from North Tonawanda, NY.  From our United States Marine Corps, it’s Christopher Perna!

Chris has been doing heroic deeds since he was a kid. According to his nomination, in high school he saved a student’s life by intervening when one student was stabbing the other. Not thinking of himself, he wrestled the knife away & ultimately saved the girls life!
Then after witnessing the aftermath of 9/1l, he knew he had to do something personally to help preserve our freedom.  So selflessly at age 30 he enlisted in the Marines!
He served 2 tours, one in Iraq the other in Afghanistan. While serving he received several honors including; the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (twice), Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Afghanistan Medal, Iraq Medal & Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (twice).
Chris is described as a very caring, thoughtful, considerate, hard working husband, father and friend who has and would help anyone in need!
It’s our honor this week to name Christopher Perna this week’s hometown hero.  If you see him on the street, please tell him thank you for his service.

Thanks once again to Christopher Perna from our United States Marine Corps, our Hometown Hero of the week!
