It is one of most traveled "secondary routes" in Western New York. Before the New York State Thruway came along, route 5 was one of the busiest roadways in all of New York. Although much of the traffic has shifted to the interstate, route 5 remains a busy trail for commuters in and out of Buffalo and it's loaded with great businesses!

I stopped in to Woodlawn Diner for some lunch and found a piece of Buffalo history.  Beyond the friendly service, the Woodlawn Diner is loaded with nostalgic charm.

The Woodlawn Diner is a great reminder that great food, service and VALUE are still possible in a locally owned place. They operate from 5am-2pm Monday through Saturday (fish fry available on Fridays) and although I had a quick burger for lunch on my visit, I couldn't help but notice the great specials they offer.

The Woodlawn Diner is probably best known for their breakfast (which I'll be back for) and draws an early morning crowd of commuters, construction workers and "locals." It's the kind of place you can get a hot cup of coffee, friendly smile, community gossip and best of all, a great meal at a fair price!
