Every Thursday we salute more of Western New york's Hometown Heroes with our Volunteer Fire Company of the Week feature. These are the men and women who get out of their warm beds at 3am to help people they don't even know. Day or night, these volunteer fire fighters are there helping you and your loved ones!

This week we are spotlighting the Wrights Corners Volunteer Fire Company. Here is their story:

Our organization was created in 1939 for fire protection in the Wrights Corners area. Since that time we have grown to an organization of 60 members with a Main Hall and two Substations equipped with an Ambulance, three "Class A" Pumpers, one "Class A" Rescue, a Grass Truck, a 55' Snorkel Platform and a restored 1944 Buffalo Fire Appartus Pumper. Wrights Corners Fire Apparatus's are the only white trucks in Niagara County.  A Niagara County Fire Coordinator, Warren Rathke, was a lifelong member. We supply our Fire Protection District with Advanced EMT Level II with defibrillation level of care and skilled fire protection.

If you would like us to honor your volunteer fire company, please send me your bio and photo to: johnlamond@wyrk.com
