Country Music Timeline:Martina McBride Goes #1 And Garth Brooks Strikes Out

 March 2 -- Martina McBride has a first in her career, Brad Paisley co-stars in a video with his future wife, and Garth Brooks strikes out but still has more money than most of us so it doesn't bother him much.

•  In 1923  Doc Watson born in Deep Gap, North Carolina. A blind acoustic guitarist, he joins The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on its "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" album and collects a Grammy for best country instrumental performance in 1980

•  1996 

       Martina McBride hovers at #1 for the first time in her career with "Wild Angels"

•  1999 

      Garth Brooks bats for the first time during an inter-squad spring training game at the San Diego Padres' camp in Peoria, Arizona. He strikes out for the first time in 1999.  The second time will come in October as Chris Gaines.

       Brad Paisley's "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)" video debuts on CMT

•  2006 

       Former "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood returns to the FOX-TV show to perform "Jesus, Take The Wheel"

       Joe Nichols performs "I'll Wait For You" and "Wings Of A Dove" at the funeral for Anna Nicole Smith in the Bahamas
