Country Quickie: Lady A on Idol, Crow Country and Aldean Still #1!
Hey there peeps......Just a lil TV Alert Reminder: Lady Antebellum will appear on FOX's American Idol tonight! Don't miss their performance.
Sheryl Crow tells The Minneapolis Star Tribune that - living in Nashville for some years now - she is indeed ready to do a full-blown country album. Sheryl says, "I'm working on it right now. I'm doing some work with Brad Paisley. I've been doing a lot of writing. Hopefully it'll be out early next year. I already had a pretty strong country influence in my music. The lyrics are nearing what I consider straightforward country lyrics; they're a little left of center." Crow says that it was the response from the recent collaboration with Loretta Lynn that pushed her to go all the way country. She explains, "I had a huge response after I sang 'Coal Miner's Daughter' with Loretta Lynn [on the CMA Awards]. That's the kind of country music I really love - the old-fashioned Jimmie Rodgers, Carter Family, Loretta Lynn kind of country music. It will be more old-fashioned than it will be new country."
Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party holds the #1 spot on Billboard's Country Albums chart this week. Alison Krauss & Union Station slide to #2 with Paper Airplane, while Emmylou Harris debuts in the #3 spot with Hard Bargain. Steve Earle's I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive also makes its debut this week, landing at #4, and Zac Brown Band's You Get What You Give holds the #5 spot.
Billy Ray Cyrus will release his 12th album, I'm American, this summer. All Access reports that it will include a revised version of "Some Gave All" featuring Jamey Johnson, Craig Morgan and Darryl Worley. Cyrus also will star in the upcoming TLC series Homecoming, during which he will greet returning troops from overseas.
