It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This Week’s Hometown Hero is from Hamburg, NY.  From our United States Marine Corps, it’s David Ferguson!

Dave is a combat Marine that served in Vietnam in 1965. He was in the 3rd Engineer Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. He enlisted at age 17 and completed basic training at Parris Island. He completed Guerrilla Warfare Training before going to Vietnam. While he was there he swept for mines, built bridges, and blew helo pads to get the injured out. He was badly injured at Hastings and spent over a year in the hospital. He earned the Purple Heart Medal. He currently is active in the Patriot Guard Riders providing escorts for military funerals. He and his fellow members stand with flags during visiting hours of the funerals.

This week, for his service and his dedication to our country and his corps, we are proud to call David Ferguson our Hometown Hero of the week! .
