On Saturday, June 9, 2012, my wife, Debbie, participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 2012. She is not by any means a runner, but joined the Fleet Feet Buffalo's No Boundaries 5K Training Program to help her prepare for the race. When they say from couch to 5K, they mean it. She was very impressed with the weekly practice in which coaches and mentors help you every step of the way. You start out with a one mile course that you cover by running one minute intervals and walking two minute intervals with coaches and mentors running with you and progress each week with practice assignments. Her team from work and thousands of others ran and walked in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Since my wife is a 6 year breast cancer survivor, it was very special to her to run and take part in this event.
