What would you like to know about me? I’m a WNY native, born and raised in Springville, and I haven’t really left the nest much. I live in Eden now with my wife Brandi and two kids Madelynn and Maverick. They kind of run my world and that’s how I like it. But when I’m not taking them from place to place, my newest hobby is taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I’ve been taking that for about two and a half years now, so it’s not uncommon to find me at my dojo
I'm originally from Michigan; my family owned a dairy farm, so hard work is second nature to me. My first job was at a family-owned radio station in my hometown of Mount Pleasant. I was bitten by the radio bug at an early age; I remember tracking songs on the Billboard charts and tuning in to every countdown show imaginable. I moved to Buffalo in '99 after landing the night show on WYRK and have been so happy as a Buffalonian. Half my family is here in Buffalo, and the other half is back home in Michigan, so I make it a point to visit home often
Sam Alex has worked for country stations across the nation and never misses his favorite acts when they come to town. He's been on red carpets for many different awards shows and interviewed some of your favorite celebrities, like Will Ferrell and Taylor Swift. Originally from Chicago, Sam now lives in Nashville, where he hosts the Taste of Country Nights radio show, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 75 stations nationwide. If you ever see him on lower Broadway, get him a pina colada and some BBQ chicken pizza
The name's Banks. First off, I love Buffalo and hope I never leave -- ever. I went to Lancaster High School, then I studied marketing at the University at Buffalo and boogied out of there a little early. I interned here for marketing, and after I paid them all off (JK, JK), they decided to keep me, and I landed up on the radio. I love this job and everything about it -- except when I can't find the coffee to make when I have to work overnight. I believe in taking less, in always giving back and that the worst thing in life is being completely average
Born and raised in Cheektowaga, I was fortunate enough to attend college in WNY and start a career. I have been in radio since 1992 and have worked behind the microphone with some of the most talented people in the industry, especially here. When I am not working, I love riding my motorcycle and hanging out with family and great friends (always looking to meet new ones!). I enjoy the great food in Buffalo, and I am always looking for great new restaurants and hangouts
Hi, I'm Aaron James, and you can hear me mostly on weekends. I am from North Tonawanda, where I live with my wife, daughter and son. The best thing about Western New York has to be the beautiful four seasons that we see each year. When I am not on the air, you will find me with my family, on Facebook and Twitter, enjoying the outdoors on a snowmobile or boat or flying radio-controlled airplanes! I am also a big Bills and Sabres fan, and, like all Western New Yorkers, I've gotten used to saying, "There's always next year!" Thanks for listening, and I'll catch you soon on the air!
Hi! The name is Jill Daniels, and let me tell you a little about myself. I have lived my entire life in Western New York -- born and raised in East Aurora. I have been lucky enough to be working radio for the last 13 years. It has been an amazing experience, and between the music and the listeners, I have learned so much. I will spend my entire summer kayaking, camping and hiking. To me, there is nothing better than spending time outdoors, sleeping under the stars and roasting marshmallows over a campfire
Although I was born in Boston, I have lived most of my life here in the Buffalo area. I must like it then, huh? The winters are great here. Since I bought a snow blower a couple of years ago, I've barely had a chance to use it. You know, guys have a special relationship with their "toys". If only I could have the same luck with my lawn mower. Went to Amherst Central High School, home of the Tigers (not to be confused with the Bengals. They're from Buff State
I am a Western New York native, born and raised in West Seneca and now living with my wife Maribeth, who is an R.N., on our 65-acre farm in Marilla. We do not have children but plenty of "kids" -- our cats, dog and horses. I have worked in Buffalo radio since 1975 and at Townsquare since 2001. Presently, I work just weekends and some fill-in on-air work. My main career is in law enforcement; I'm a mounted lieutenant, chaplain and instructor for the Erie County Sheriff's Office
Hey, I'm Sam! Born and raised in good ole East Aurora (Wendy must like us south towners). Full time I work for Townsquare Media/WYRK as Live Events and Promotions Coordinator. I help promote the station and plan our great events such as Taste of Country and Acoustic Shows, as well as many others, which you can read more about under “events” at the top of the page! I’ve been in Radio for about a year now, and you can hear me on the weekends. Huge Country music fan, absolutely love what I do, and hope you like hearing me!
Mom and Dad call me Christopher David... I started working in Country Music in 1989 with a whole of other "New" guys with names like Clint and Alan and Travis and Garth... My radio career had me moving from town to town including WXTA-Erie, WFRG-Utica, and WNUC-Buffalo and even spent a few years as Director of Programming at WNSA/Empire Sports. I am honored to FINALLY be a part of the legendary Country 106.5 WYRK! If you don't recognize my voice from the airwaves
I made Buffalo my home 25 years ago. Bought a great house near Kleinhan's Music Hall and love my community. My first day on WYRK in 2003, I gave away tickets to "Jamboree in the Hills", which originated in my hometown of Wheeling, West Virginia! That's right, next to Brad Paisly's hometown of Glendale. He used to sing the Star Spangled Banner at my nieces' high school basketball games! My favorite compliment was given to me from a WYRK listener: "Jolene, if Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton had a love child, it was you
I've been doing this radio thing for 40 years now. I've been a part of the morning show since 1986. Ever since I was a kid, I've loved to read. I read the newspaper each day nearly cover to cover, nearly everything except the classifieds. I’m a lifelong Bills and Sabres fan and I've been a regular in the press box of both teams since 1979. You’d think in all that time one of those teams would win a championship! Four cracks at it for the Bills and two for the Sabres and they came up short each time
I grew up in East Aurora, NY and am the youngest of five kids. After attending East Aurora High School, I went on to graduate from Canisius College. It’s amazing how fast time has gone and hard to believe that I have been a part of WYRK’s staff for over 20 years. My wife Elizabeth, our beautiful baby boy Harrison (Hank) and our two dogs, Pepper and Lucy and I all squeeze in to a house in the Town of Hamburg. When I’m not on the air or writing for our website, I love being outside
I was born in West Texas, but was mostly raised in northeast Ohio. Being the daughter of someone in radio meant moving around a lot, but we were lucky enough to make Akron, OH home for almost 20 years. Growing up in country radio means I don’t really know anything else. This job and lifestyle has literally been my entire life! Looking back I am so lucky to have found a home here in WNY. It reminds me so much of Ohio and it doesn’t hurt that I’m just a drive down the 90 from some family
