One of my favorite broadcasters is Los Angeles Dodgers play by play man Vin Scully.  He's been with the team since 1950, back in the days when they were playing in Brooklyn.  That's 66 years - a record for any broadcaster with one team in major league sports history - a record that likely will never be broken.

One of Scully's incredible talents is to tell a story without missing a single play.  He did that earlier this week when he told the story of outfielder Jonny Gomes nearly fatal encounter with a wolf when he was a 12-year old boy.

What's amazing is that incident is one of five near-death experiences in Gomes' life.
