Check Out These Crazy Duct Tape Prom Outfits! [PICTURES] [VIDEO]

Who needs to rent a tux when you can make one? I have heard about these duct tape outfits in the past, but it looks like they have come a long way in the design department.

ABC News had this story this morning. A high school couple got creative in an effort to win a scholarship. The young lady pictured above is Amber Squires. The outfits took 40 rolls of tape -- 25 for his and 15 for hers and according to her:

“I had arms full of duct tape and everyone was looking at me like I was crazy,” she said.

With the support of their family, the two helped each other make clothes, which cost $250.

I went the traditional route back in the day. I went to both my junior and senior prom at East Aurora High School. I don't recall seeing any duct tape dresses, but there were plenty of rental tuxes. These duct tape tuxes have to be hot as heck!! I can't imagine dancing a lot without sweating like crazy!

The contest will run through May, and there are some pretty impressive winners from last year, such as this couple below.
