I went to see Kelly Clarkson in Detroit at the DTE Energy Center last Friday night and was happy to see Jordan Meredith perform a Miranda Lambert song, “Mama’s Broken Heart,” with Kelly.  The two performed this same song on the ABC show Duets a month or so ago and did a fantastic job with it.  I was fortunate enough to talk with Kelly backstage about women in country music, and I’m thrilled that Jordan will be recording some new country songs.

Jordan's voice is definitely suited to country music, so I’m looking forward to hearing the songs. From what it sounded like to me, Kelly will have some hand in the producing of Jordan’s material. It certainly won’t hurt Jordan having a superstar in her corner.

I grew up in Michigan, so it was nice going home to a show like this at one of my favorite outdoor venues.  When I lived there, it was called Pine Knob Music Theater.  The name may have changed, but the venue is still the same -- still a great place to see a show.  The only problem was that it rained like the dickens all day! When I say rained, I mean a complete, all-day downpour.  I looked like a drenched rat when I spoke to Kelly.  Hey, what are you going to do?  Michigan, like New York, truly needed the rain.
