Dustin Lynch, ‘She Cranks My Tractor’ – Lyrics Uncovered
It's standard practice for new artists trying to hone in on their sound to match up with many of Nashville's A-list songwriters. But when it came time for Brett Beavers and Tim Nichols to collaborate with Dustin Lynch on his 'She Cranks My Tractor' lyrics, magic happened.
"Tim and Dustin and I have written quite a bit before," Beavers tells Taste of Country. "This day, Dustin had the idea. Usually writing appointments start with everyone throwing out ideas or playing guitars. He threw out this title, and me and Tim looked at each other and was like, 'Yeah ... we can get into that!' We just wanted a real barn-burner of a song."
"She’s a wild rose waiting on me at the end of the road / Between the water tower and the power lines / We’re a cloud of dust once I get her buckled in my pickup truck," they wrote in the 'She Cranks My Tractor' lyrics.
"Dustin wanted a really fast pace, high energy song," recalls Beavers. "We started banging on guitars, and got a rock 'n roll groove going. We just chased words around and spent the rest of the day doing that. We were going for a driving, high energy song. Typically when you do that, you shoot for a lot of color in the lyrics and scenery that match up well, especially in country music."
"I go fast, she hollers faster / She’s the first one up the hayloft ladder / A girl like that’s what a country boy’s after / She cranks, she cranks, she cranks my tractor / She cranks, she cranks, she cranks my tractor," they wrote in the chorus lyrics.
"It wasn't long before we were off to the races," Beavers explains with a smile. "You can see in the lyrics, we tried to keep it gritty and also match with his vocals. It's been working out really well for him [Lynch] live, and we're all excited to see what it does for him!"
