If Carl Edwards was going to finally break a 70-race winless streak could it be any more appropriate it would come at the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix Raceway? Nearly two years after his last win Edwards led the most laps and held on during a green, white, checkered finish to treat the fans to his patented backflip off the door of his Number 99 Ford.

Coming off a tough week at Daytona where he wrecked five cars, Edwards led the final 78 laps then went into the stands to celebrate with the fans.

Jimmie Johnson followed up his win at Daytona with a second place finish just nosing out Denny Hamlin as they traded paint down the front-stretch.

Brad Keselowski came in fourth with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. completing the Top 5.

Pole sitter Mark Martin led 75 laps but a vibration moved him to the back and lost a lap before regaining it on a caution. He finished 21st.

Danica Patrick started 40th and struggled until a blown tire put her into the wall and then collided with David Ragan ending the day for both. Patrick finished 39th.

Las Vegas is next on the schedule next Sunday.
