If you are a fan of designer hand bags, there's a good chance you've got a Kate Spade bag.  Unfortunately, the designer was found today.

Kate Spade was not just a name on a bag.  She was the co-founder of Kate Spade New York.  A company that focused on clothing and accessories and also one of the most powerful female American contemporary designers of the 1990s.

Sadly, it appears as if she has committed suicide as Kate Spade was found in her Park Avenue apartment after hanging herself with a red scarf according to The New York Times.

There was a note left, however the contents of that note have not been shared with the public.

Spade was a fashion designer who broke onto the scene in the 90's with lines of bags that she aimed to make "“a functional bag that was sophisticated and had some style,” according to an article in The New York Times in 1999.
