Trace Adkins was on his way to Alaska for a fishing trip when his home was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon in the Nashville suburb of Brentwood. Adkins' two youngest daughters and a sitter were at home at the time and escaped unhurt along with family pets. Adkins' wife returned to the house about 10 minutes after the fire started as additional firefighters were being called to the scene. When Adkins found out about the fire he immediately returned to Nashville.

Lost in the fire were all of Adkins awards and family photos. His wife Rhonda told the Tennessean newspaper they lost many irreplaceable things, but she's glad that her children are safe. She said, "you can replace things, not people. I'm just numb."

Investigators say the fire started in the garage but there's no indication what triggered it.

Adkins is scheduled to appear during the CMA Music Festival next Saturday night in Nashville.
