So you try to make smart and healthy food and snack choices like granola cereal, bran-muffins, and frozen yogurt.  But what you might not realize is these choices may not be the healthiest.  I ran across an article on thatsfit.com that opened my eyes to food and snacks that are deceptively “healthy”.  For instance, granola cereal, granola itself is usually high in sugar, fat, and calories and relatively low in vitamins and minerals. It also contains a whopping 400 calories in an average cup. It’s gotta be better than a bowl of Lucky Charms though, so keep that in mind if you’re choosing granola over that.  And what about bran muffins, bran is good for you right?  Yes, but the problem is their sheer size and they’re also loaded with fat and sugar.  The article listed the top 10 deceptively unhealthy foods and one thing that really caught my eye was wrap sandwiches.  I will opt for a wrap at lunch over bread any day.  I guess what I need to be concerned with is the size of the wrap.  The article made note that most wraps are made big enough for two people to share.  I have noticed that and try to save one half for dinner.  I guess portion control is every bit as important as the choices we make.

I do think that I’m doing a better job of making healthier choices, as I look at the snacks I packed for work this morning.  I see grapes and a fiber bar.  Not bad right? There was a time it would’ve been junior mints and chips.  What healthy snacks do you like?
