Helmet cams.  They've been around for awhile.  They're designed specifically to attach to football helmets and bring you a unique perspective of the game from the players' point of view.

How can they be used?  An instructional tool perhaps.  Maybe coaches can use it to get an idea of exactly what the player is seeing in a particular play.

I would think it's mainly for amusement purposes.  But one thing's for sure - they're illegal to use in a game.  The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has determined that helmet cams are illegal equipment.

Just recently a helmet cam was found on the helmet of a player during a game in this area.  Apparently the school and the player didn't realize it was illegal.  But, they haven't said anything yet about referee cams.
