Our Fall Acoustic Show is just a few weeks away.  Big and Rich headline a show that includes Maren Morris and Chris Janson.  They take the stage at the UB Center for the Arts on Sunday, October 30th at 7:30 pm.  Rhea Francani opens the show.

It's just another in a long line of reasonably priced shows that over the years have  included The Band Perry, Blake Shelton, Dan & Shay, Easton Corbin, Justin Moore and Jack Ingram to name a few.  Two years ago Scotty McCreary was joined by Danielle Bradbery and Eric Paslay.

I wasn't much of a fan of Scotty McCreary when he won American Idol in 2011, but he grew on me.  He initially struck me as a Josh Turner karaoke singer.  But then he showed he could put out some hit songs; "See You Tonight", "Feelin' It", "Water Tower Town" and "The Trouble With Girls".

What really sold me was getting to meet him at the acoustic show in 2014.  He's a genuinely nice guy and mature beyond his years.

He also has a respect for classic country singers and classic country songs.  He's made a couple of appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and during one of them he did an impressive version of "Hello Darlin'", the 1970 hit by Conway Twitty.

Conway was an incredible performer, but he wasn't much for conversation.  I got to meet Conway before a performance at Kleinhan's Music Hall in the late 1970's or early 1980's.  He put on a great show, but in terms of personality, Scotty has a lot more to offer.

Here's his Grand Ole Opry performance of "Hello Darlin'".
