As one of the reigning kings of country music, George Strait has scored 59 No. 1 hit singles during his illustrious his career. That's why it's not surprising that the Country Radio Hall of Fame honored Strait with a Career Achievement Award at Tuesday's (Feb. 28) ceremony.

Strait was honored with a video compilation of Dierks Bentley, Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Martina McBride, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw and other notable country artists, who offered up their thoughts and memories of the country music legend.

McBride put it best when she said, "Everyone wants to be George Strait when they grow up."

After the video, Strait walked on stage to accept his award. In his typical manner, the hitmaker said a few meaningful words -- but he didn't linger.

"[This award is] so special because it's coming from country radio. I definitely have a special place for this award in my house," he said. "I just want to say that one of the greatest things about being in this business -- and the country music business is the best business in the world -- is getting to meet and be with people like, you who are in this room tonight."

Strait's opening words were greeted with applause and several whistles.

"I remember in the early ‘80s going all over the country to radio stations and getting to meet personalities and friends I still have today from those times," he added. "I also want to congratulate everyone being inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame."

And with that, the award-winning singer said one last thank you and stepped off the stage.

Strait is responsible for classic country hits like ‘Fool Hearted Memory,’ ‘Carrying Your Love With Me’ and ‘She’ll Leave You With a Smile.’ Even after decades in country music, he still manages to top the charts with new material every few years.

After this year, the King of Country will give up touring, but his fans shouldn't worry. Strait still plans to move forward with his successful recording career.
