Get into the Fall Spirit with these weekend activities!
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. Leaves changing, sweater weather, the pumpkins, and of course the BBQ!
This weekend is the opening season of The Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence and of course they start is off with a bang with the Oinktoberfest BBQ Cook Off. It’s NY’s largest BBQ cook off! They have invited over 90 teams to compete to be the best in BBQ Cooking. While you’re there make sure you also tear yourself away from the BBQ just long enough to check out the other events at the Great Pumpkin Farm. Spend the day enjoying hayrides, the corn maze, and even pick that perfect pumpkin for Halloween at their pumpkin patch. This weekend is the opening weekend at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence. Another great event is happening now till the end of October at the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village in Amherst. Spend the day at their Living Village experiencing what it was like to live in the 19th Century in WNY. Their Living Village has 35 acres and 10 historic homes for you to venture thru. You’ll even get the chance to interact with their interpreters and learn crafts, games, cooking and even blacksmithing. There’s something new every day at the Buffalo Niagara Hertiage Village in Amherst.
Another great activity this weekend at the Hull Family Home and Farmstead in Lancaster they are holding their Civil War Living History Weekend and Candlelight tour. The history buff in all of us will love this one!! You’ll have the chance to meet civil war soldiers and civilians and spend the day learning all about the history of our country. Along with that you’ll have the chance to experience some amazing demonstrations and exhibits throughout the day. The event runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4p. Another great event for the weekend is at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society. Spend the whole day at their Harvest Fest Family Day event. There will be pony rides, pioneer crafts, blacksmith demonstrations, weavers, museum tours, artifact scavenger hunts, and more. It’s all happening this weekend at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society.
Another great part of fall is creating that perfect jack – o – lantern! The perfect place to get a pumpkin this weekend is at Pumpkinville in Great Valley. This one is definitely one of my favorites! Have a great day with the entire family while you check out the Bounty Barn, enjoy hayrides and pony rides, shoot the corn cannon, travel along on the cow train and even venture over to Goat Mountain. While you’re there making sure you check out the Pick-your-own pumpkin patch that has some of the best pumpkins around! Pick out a perfect one! Pumpkinville runs thru the month of October. Also this weekend make sure you check out the Lewiston Harvest Festival and Craft Show. Visit the charming village of Lewiston for the 29th annual festival. You can even get some of your Christmas shopping even done at this event! It all takes place on Center Street in Lewiston form 10 to 5.
Finally with fall finally here you should just go get lost. I mean literally! Get lost for the day among the corn stalks at Ressler’s Corn Maze in Arcade. This one is definitely my favorite one! They are open now till the end of October. Spend the day with family and friends getting lost in their fantastic corn mazes, take a couple shots with the corn cannon, take a ride on their hayride and cow train, play for a while in their corn box (yes just like a sand box but with corn!), and even get a pumpkin in the patch! Oh and while you’re there definitely check out the Hay Jump and jumping pillow! It’s all at the Ressler’s Corn Maze in Arcade.
