It can't be a surprise to anyone that American Idol is going off air after it's 15th season. Once the top dog for reality singing shows, American Idol has slipped in ratings and interest over the last 5 or so seasons. The show began in 2002, and the average draw was 30 million people.

Artists like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, and more we're born from the show and have maintained success in the entertainment world.
Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul became household names and Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr., Mariah Carey have all sat in the judges chair.

You can't dispute that at one time the show was king, but all things will come to an end. We'll wait and see what producer's have in store for the final season with host Ryan Seacrest leading the way starting Janaury 2016.
