Two times each year, the Drug Enforcement Administration, along with local law enforcement agencies, host the National Drug Take Back Day.

This Saturday (April 27) from 10 a.m. until  2 p.m., you will be able to drop off prescription drugs that you no longer have a use for. Organizers say collecting prescription drugs safely helps prevent the risk of accidental overdose by children; drug abuse among teens and adults; and the of soil and water sources.

There are nearly 30 locations throughout the Western New York region that will be collecting these drugs.  Back in October, citizens in the U.S. turned in a record-breaking 552,161 pounds -- that’s 271 tons of unwanted, unused prescription drugs!

If you have prescription drugs you would like to dispose of, here are some area locations where you can drop them off.
