It came down to fuel mileage and for Denny Hamlin he had just enough over the final laps to win Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway.  Hamlin took the lead on a restart and led the final 59 laps for his 18th career victory.

Kevin Harvick kept getting closer in Hamlin's rear-view mirror, but Harvick ran out  of gas and finished second.

Greg Biffle finished third.  Jimmie Johnson bounced back from a disastrous Daytona 500 to finish fourth and Brad Keselowski completed the top five.

Teams didn't have much time to prepare for the weekend at Phoenix because of the previous weekend at Daytona.  It was early Tuesday morning when year's premier event finally ended, then some drivers never made it home to North Carolina because airports were closed because of bad weather.

The only concern in Phoenix was a resurfaced track that became slicker as the temperatures rose into the 80's.  Kasey Kahne and Paul Menard slid into the wall early on.  Ryan Newman was running sixth when Carl Edwards slid and knocked Newman back into the pack.

So after winning at Phoenix and a fourth place finish at Daytona, Hamlin has the points lead over Greg Biffle by 6 points.  Biffle has a pair of third place finishes to start the season.  Kevin Harvick stands third, 8 points back.

Las Vegas is up next on the schedule.
