The City of Buffalo has some plans for your Christmas tree after the holidays are over.

Looking to recycle your tree? There are a variety of ways to do that in Buffalo after the New Year begins.

According to information provided by Mayor Brown's office:

THREE WAYS TO RECYCLE YOUR HOLIDAY TREE

  1. The City of Buffalo will be accepting Christmas trees for recycling at the January 5th ‘After the Holidays Recycling and Electronics Waste Recycling’ event, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. City residents can bring their natural Christmas tree to 1120 Seneca Street where it will be chipped on site. Residents can take chips with them for re-use as mulch. Trees should be free of ornaments and tinsel.
  1. The City will also have curbside collection of naturally grown Christmas trees for recycling. The collection is scheduled to last from January 2nd to January 20th on residents’ scheduled garbage day. This will be conducted by the City of Buffalo’s Department of Public Works, Parks & Streets as a way to help the environment and reduce costs associated with taking the trees to landfills. To participate in this collection, City residents are asked to place trees out on their curb on their scheduled garbage pickup day. Do not place trees in garbage bags. Trees will be picked up separately from garbage, so City residents should not be concerned if they are left behind after garbage removal
  2. In addition to the one-week tree pick-up, the City is also offering drop-off opportunities at three locations in the city. These locations are...
