High School Students Hold ‘Prom Draft’ + Pay For Prom Dates — Is It OK? [POLL] [VIDEO]

Well, this is something you don’t hear every prom season.

While this isn’t really breaking rules, this isn’t appropriate or funny by any means, and I applaud the administration at this high school for stepping up.

Corona del Mar High School in California is under scrutiny for holding an NFL-style prom date draft. According to Yahoo, the principal sent home a letter to parents about the behavior:

Parents of juniors and seniors received a letter last Friday from Principal Kathy Scott notifying them of the “rumor” of a “prom draft,” similar to a NFL draft – an idea that school officials said raised potential concerns about female students being “objectified.”

Male students purchase draft tickets, and female students are then “drafted” as dates for the prom, scheduled for June 7, according to the principal’s letter.
