I just love this.  What a great idea and I wish it was something we did in this country.  It's a routine and unique gesture that Japanese drivers do to thank other drivers for doing something courteous.  And it's so simple.

With all the electronics that cars come equipped with these days I've always thought a scrolling message board on your rear bumper would be handy.  You could enter a quick message....a word or two would be the limit....."thanks" and "sorry" would be the primary ones.  Maybe there would be some lock-out feature that would prevent you from entering some "choice" words.

But in the meantime, here's how the Japanese do it.
