Apparently the NFL feels a player's career is worth $24,000.  That was the league fine handed down to Miami Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry for the dirty hit that knocked Buffalo Bills safety Aaron Williams out of last Sunday's game in Miami.

Williams was taken to a Miami hospital as a precaution and has been attending meetings this week, but his availability not only for Sunday's game against New England, but for the rest of the season is in doubt.  He suffered a head and neck injury and apparently Williams is saying he'll consider his future in pro football at the end of the season which makes it appear that he won't be playing anytime soon.

Landry was assessed a 15-yard penalty for the hit on Williams.  The game officials decided against ejecting Landry from the game and the NFL passed on suspending Landry.  With Williams career in doubt, in essence, his livelihood was worth only $24,000 as the league was concerned.

I've always felt that if a player injures another player with a vicious, dirty hit, that  player should sit out the same number of games the injured player is out of the lineup.  Do you think that would make a difference in the number of dirty hits delivered in the NFL?  I do.
