Ford GT [Getty Images][/caption]The question is - does anybody need a car that can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds and easily travel at 200 mph?  The obvious answer is no, but it would be cool to have.  It's the new Ford GT and beginning next year you can buy one.  That's if you have an extra $250,000 laying around.

The new Ford GT is the talk of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.  It's the third generation of Ford's high performance car.  The supercharged V-8 is gone replaced by a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine driving the rear wheels with more than 600 horsepower.

Among its features are a rear wing whose height and angle react to speed and conditions, an instrument panel you can customize to whatever you want it to display and upward-swinging doors.

With its high-tech aerodynamics and lots of carbon fiber to keep the weight down, Ford promises this new GT will have one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production care.  And they claim it will be highly fuel efficient.  I suppose that means as fuel efficient as a 200 mph car can be.
