Last year the eastbound I-290 bridges over Delaware and Military were replaced.  This year the work moves to the westbound side.  Traffic in both directions on the 290 in the construction zone is reduced from three lanes to two. Some of the exit and entrance ramps to the westbound 290 are closed necessitating detours.

The State Department of Transportation moved ahead the timetable for replacing the bridges when in January, 2014 the tires of at least 16 vehicles were severely damaged by an expansion joint on the bridge over Delaware Avenue. The two year project to replace the bridges is expected to be completed this fall.
