It often surprises me to see how many motorcyclists are riding around with un-inspected bikes. Living here in New York State, that alone can be a financial mistake. Last time I checked, a motorcycle inspection ticket is a least a $100 fine plus that good old NY State surcharge. Having your motorcycle inspected every year is a great thing to do to keep yourself safe.

Here is a list of things that are checked when the bike gets properly inspected:

Brake pedal height and reserve
Wheel and master cylinder for leakage
Master cylinder fluid level
Break hoses and rods or cableshead light(s)
Beam indicator (if equipped)
Tail light(s) and reflectors
Stop light and turn signals if equipped
Horn
Frame, fork, steering head bearing,
Wheel bearings and grease retainers
Front and rear shock absorbers
Tires, wheels, and rims
Exhaust system and muffler
Fuel tank, filler cap, and fuel line connections

Getting a New York State motorcycle inspection sticker may seem like a hassle to some, but it just may save your life and the life of your passenger. In my opinion, it is totally worth the $6 cost. Be safe and ride safe! I will see you on the road!
