It's been one of the mildest winters in Western New York State in recent memory with snowfall totals well below normal and temperatures well above.  But still in the early part of March when you see people driving down the Niagara Thruway with their convertible top down and people enjoying a picnic along the Erie Canal, you know we're in store for an early spring.

How about some of these other early signs of spring....

  • Mississippi Mudd's on Niagara Street in Tonawanda opens early for the season.
  • When the road crews send out the street sweepers instead of the snowplows.
  • When you notice roadside snow fences being taken down.
  • Lines form outside Dari Queen locations.
  • When Buffalo and the Towns of Tonawanda and West Seneca take down their winter overnight parking ban.
  • When the Army Corps of Engineers begins the process of removing the Niagara River ice boom.
  • Bikers begin using their motorcycles as their main mode of transportation.

What are some of the sure signs of spring you see each year?
