What a difference Jack Eichel has been to the Buffalo Sabres line-up.  And what a great season debut in front of the home fans.  Eichel took over control of Thursday's night's game against the New York Rangers with a pair of third period goals to lead the Sabres to a 4-3 victory.

The Sabres had trailed 3-2 entering the final 20 minutes, but Eichel scored on a quick shot during a power play to tie it then just over two minutes later scored again to put the Sabres in the lead. It's the first time in 13 games this season that the Rangers had lost a game after entering the third period with a lead.

In two games so far Eichel has three goals and an assist.  That's exactly what the Sabres had been missing over the two months he was out with that ankle injury.

Johan Larsson and Brian Gionta had the other Buffalo goals.  Anders Nilsson stopped 22 shots to pick up his fourth victory of the season.

The Sabres remain home to host the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday afternoon at Key Bank Center.
