A country fan wanted to get Jason Aldean's attention, so he threw a cup of beer at him.

The cup struck Aldean in the head during his performance of “Don’t You Wanna Stay” at the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kan. on Thursday night (April 9). According to the Wichita Eagle, the man told police he was only trying to tell Aldean that a friend had gotten engaged during the show. He wanted the superstar to acknowledge the engagement onstage, so he tossed his cup of beer at him.

Kake.com reports that the unidentified man had been drinking.

A projected image of Kelly Clarkson joins Aldean for "Don't You Wanna Stay" during live shows. The hologram kept singing, but Aldean stopped and walked toward the crowd before motioning to security to have the man removed.

“It took everything I had not to go kick that guy’s teeth in,” the singer said during a break in the action.

The Wichita Eagle reports that Aldean wasn’t injured, and he did finish the show despite the momentary distraction. He also declined to press charges.

Aldean continues the Burn It Down tour in Tulsa, Okla. Friday night. Cole Swindell and Tyler Farr are the openers, and they've got dates scheduled through the spring and summer.

This isn't the first time a country singer has been struck with a beer, of course. Last October Dustin Lynch was hit in the head with a full can, resulting in stitches. He later told Taste of Country the man was caught, but not prosecuted.

“I decided that on my day off I didn’t want to file police papers, and what are they going to do to the guy anyway?" Lynch said.
