Things happen fast in the NFL.  The Buffalo Bills confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that receiver Jeremy Maclin was visiting the team at One Bills Drive after his surprise release last week by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Over the weekend, Bills running back Lesean McCoy spoke to reporters at a charity softball game and said, "I know he can help us out tremendously. I've been doing my recruiting already. Don't be surprised if it happens."

Whether that happens is a big IF.  The Bills don't have much wiggle room under the salary cap, but if they can figure out a way to sign him he seemingly would be a big addition to the team.  But the troubling thing is why the Chiefs released him.  What do they know about him that they felt he was expendable?

If he can contribute to the Bills he would be with some familiar company.  He and McCoy are close friends.  McCoy recently was a member of Maclin's wedding party.  They spent six years together with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Maclin also has a connection with Bills quarterbacks coach David Culley.  Culley was his receivers coach for six seasons.

After visiting with the Bills Maclin is scheduled to meet with the Baltimore Ravens.  Cleveland and Philadelphia also have an interest.
