Jimmie Johnson dominated Sunday's rain-delayed race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Johnson led 155 laps to break a 24-race winless skid and assure himself of a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship final eight.

Johnson retook the lead from Matt Kenseth on a restart with 17 laps left and held on to beat Kenseth to the finish line by nearly 1.5 seconds.  Johnson's victory was his third this season, his eighth at Charlotte and the 78th of his career.

Kasey Kahne finished third with Ryan Newman and Kyle Larson completing the Top Five.  Pole sitter Kevin Harvick finished 38th with engine trouble.

It was also a tough day for some other drivers in the Chase.  Joey Logano, Chase Elliott, Austin Dillon, Denny Hamlin all finished 30th or worse.

Four races into the Chase, here's the current standings heading into next week's races at Talladega:

  • Jimmie Johnson
  • Matt Kenseth
  • Kyle Busch
  • Brad Keselowski
  • Kurt Busch
  • Carl Edwards
  • Martin Truex, Jr.
  • Denny Hamlin
  • Austin Dillon
  • Chase Elliott
  • Joey Logano
  • Kevin Harvick

The effects of Hurricane Matthew moved the start of both Saturday night's scheduled Sprint Cup race and Friday's Xfinity race to Sunday.
