There's nothing like a refreshing beer on a hot summer's day. It's been a while since I did a beer review so I thought this would be a good time to share one with you.

Even if you are just a casual beer drinker, you can't help but notice the abundance of Belgian Wheat Ales. The American beer drinking market is constantly craving something different and many American beer makers are now producing Belgian Wheat Ales. These ales are very pale and cloudy in appearance mostly because they are unfiltered and offer a high level of wheat and sometimes oats which are added to the mash.

This past Saturday, I was at a restaurant having lunch and I ordered up a Blue Moon, which is a Belgian style wheat ale made by the Blue Moon Brewing Company of Golden, Colorado which is actually owned by Miller Coors Brewing Company. I have had Blue Moon before, but this time the waitress served it to me with an orange slice in the glass. What a remarkable difference! The orange brought out so many of the flavors within the ale. This is truly a refreshing summertime drink. The alcohol content is rated at 5.4%. Blue Moon is very easy on the palate with being over-bearing in taste. It has a nice finish when you swallow it. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate it an 8.5.
