For 31 years he's been behind bars at Attica Correctional Facility, but just this week Mark David Chapman was moved to Wende Correctional Facility in Alden.  Both are considered maximum-security correctional facilities.  The reason for the move after all that time?  State officials won't say.

Chapman is the man who in 1980 shot and killed former Beatle John Lennon outside of Lennon's New York City apartment building.  Chapman fired five shots, four of them striking Lennon.

Chapman was sentenced to a prison term of 20 years to life, but has been denied parole six times.  His next parole hearing is scheduled for August.

Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow, has spoke out against Chapman's parole in the past and is expected to renew her objections again this summer.
