Gather your friends and family and head to Canalside this weekend for the 21st annual Hospice Buffalo Memorial Walk!

I am honored to have been asked to join the thousands who are a part of one of the largest walks in Buffalo each year. Hospice does so much for their patients AND families and this is one great way to remember loved ones who have passed on.

It is an impressive sight when you see the teams gathered with their pictures and t-shirts honoring those that have passed on. Hospice is so much more than end of life care. The goal is to improve quality of life.

Hospice Buffalo also offers education, resources,  Essential Care for Children - a home-care program serving seriously ill children and their families; the Wilson Support Center - provider of bereavement,  the Palliative Care Institute - a collaborative research and training initiative with the University at Buffalo; and The Hospice Foundation of WNY – the charitable fundraising arm of CHPC. CHPC serves more than 900 patients each day in private homes, hospitals and nursing homes.

The 5K walk starts at 11:00 a.m. Canalside; registration starts at 9:00 a.m. Kids 12 and under are free. A shorter, one-mile fun Walk has been mapped out for people with wheelchairs and baby strollers. Afterwards, Wegmans invites walkers to a picnic with food, games, prizes, face painting, a massive slide, and prizes! Register online at HospiceMemorialWalk.com.
