If you are one of those people that like to just "look around," it could mean that you will still end up paying for it. When I go in to any store, I know exactly what I need and am looking for. I actually look at shopping as a form of torture and hate the thought of just browsing around til something catches my eye.

In Australia, there is a store that is trying to make a little profit from the gawkers. The sign on the door reads:

As of the first of February, this store will be charging people a $5 fee per person for ‘just looking.’

The $5 fee will be deducted when goods are purchased

I guess the problem is that people use the store as a meeting place or a gathering spot and go elsewhere to buy things. I'm sure there are some small business owners that have experienced this especially with parking lots. How often do people use your parking spaces only to walk to another store/restaurant to shop or eat??

This has turned out to be a great marketing ploy for this store as well. The sign has been generated worldwide!!
