This week's Hometown Hero comes to us from Warsaw, N.Y. Her name is Kaillee Bridges, and she served in the United States Marine Corps. We celebrate her life and her service to our country this Memorial Day Weekend.

Kailee joined the Marines straight out of high school.  While she was there, she fell in love with a co-marine, Justin Bridges. It was shortly after they had gotten married that Kaillee realized she was expecting a baby girl. It was great news for the young couple.  However, during a checkup, the doctors discovered Kailee had both bone and lung cancer.

She was able to deliver their baby girl, Lilly, in February. However, after fighting a long hard battle, Kailee passed away a couple weeks ago.

Today we remember her for her service in the Marines and the inspiration that she provided to her community. She is a hero, and we just want to say thank you.

If you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, click the button below. We will choose a new Hometown Hero each Friday. If their name is chosen, we will not only feature them right here on WYRK.com, but we’ll be sure to thank them for their service on the air and dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.
