Kasey Kahne won a duel with Hendricks Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon with two laps to go and took the checkered flag at Pocono Speedway for his second win this season and his second career win at Pocono.  It looked like Gordon was going to cruise to victory, one he could really use to insure a wild card spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship until the final caution came out.  It set up the final restart that Kahne managed to win placing Gordon second.

Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. completed the Top Five.  It was the first Top Five for Earnhardt in seven races.

Jimmie Johnson had the lead early in the race but had a tire go down and he hit the wall hard causing heavy damage.  Then during a series of pit stops trying to fix the damage he was penalized when his crew had too many men over the wall.  It put him at the back of the field, but he battled back.  Even with the damaged car and a penalty, Johnson finished 13th and still has a big lead in the season standings, 77 points up on Clint Bowyer and up by 84 over Carl Edwards.

The season's second road course race is up next just a short drive from us - Watkins Glen on Sunday.
