For the second week in a row Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin were involved in an incident, but this time it sent Hamlin to the hospital after a hard crash on the final lap of the Auto Club 400 in California. The two were battling for the lead when Logano bumped Hamlin sending both into the wall. Hamlin took the hardest hit and collapsed when he got out of his car. He was alert after the race but was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

While those two were taking each other out Kyle Busch got around the outside of them to give Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing its first win at Auto Club Speedway. Busch led the most laps and had the best car all day and it gives him a sweep of the weekend after winning the Nationwide race the day before.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. came in second with Kurt Busch coming in third. Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle completed the Top 5.

After battling for the lead, Logano came in sixth with Hamlin finishing 25th.

While Hamlin was heading to the hospital Logano had a pit road confrontation for the second week in a row. This time it was a shoving match with Tony Stewart who was furious for Logano blocking him on the last restart.

Heading into the Easter break, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has the points lead. In five races so far he’s finished no lower than 7th. Brad Keselowski is in second place 12 points back. Jimmie Johnson is third.

After a week off, the season resumes a week from Sunday at Martinsville.
