(Yawnnn) Sounds too good to be true, But wait!... there's scientific proof that sleeping in on weekends will help you live longer... and if it's backed by science, that's all the proof I need!

According to WKBW and the Journal of Sleep Research, A  study that was completed over 13 years and involved 43,880 subjects, from age 65 and under found that those who averaged five hours (or less) of sleep per night had a 65% higher chance of an earlier death than those who consistently slept for around seven hours every night.

Here's the good part,  The study participants who “compensated” for short weeknight sleeps by sleeping longer on the weekends had a greater life expectancy, on par with the group that slept for seven hours every night, according to the Journal of Sleep Research. They aldo had this to say:

“The results imply that short (weekday) sleep is not a risk factor for mortality if it is combined with a medium or long weekend sleep,” the researchers wrote. “This suggests that short weekday sleep may be compensated for during the weekend, and that this has implications for mortality.”

Check out the full story here. There's a lot of big scientific words in regards to this research and its results, All I know is it sounds like I'm getting the green light to sleep in on weekends. Turn that alarm clock off and enjoy sleeping in this weekend and help yourself live longer!
