For as long as I can remember there had always been a Charlie at my grandmother's house. I remember being so excited to be the first one there because it meant I got to give Charlie the peanut! When my grandfather was still alive he rivaled Jeff The Animal Guy with all the animals the would hang out with him int he backyard. Charlie would eat out of his his hand while two deer stood behind hime with birds on their back. It was something special. Now, I'm almost thirty, I know it's not the same the Charlie...bit it's probably his grandson. LOL Charlie comes by and normally gets our attention from the tree, but when he doesn't he comes up to the door and knocks. He got a little over aggressive on this one.

He seriously has no hesitations with us. One time he got in the house when my grandma was home alone and kept the nuts in the dining room. That's why there is not a rule you have to have the peanut before you open the door. lol

Some people might think by feeding Charlie the yard must be overrun with unwanted animals. Nope...just Charlie. However, there are two very mean bluebirds that have swept in a couple of times and swiped Charlie's nuts. My grandma even said one time they dive bombed Charlie....but I don't know if I believe her. LOL

The memories we have of Charlie are great and when my 6 year-old cousin runs in the door and immediately goes to the back door to see if Charlie is there... we smile and walk over and help him open the door. Then we push him aside and feed Charlie ourselves... no I'm just kidding.
