Manuel Welch Is This Week’s Hometown Hero!

It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero from our United states Navy is Manuel Welch from Buffalo, NY!

He goes by Manny and he served for 4 years active duty and 2 years in the reserves  as a Machinist Mate on the USS Coral Sea.  He was stationed in Alameda County California, lived in Oakland, CA for 18 yrs.

He says his experience is one that will always be remembered.

Launching aircraft off the catapults was something that he will always remember being exciting, traveling the world to such places as Hawaii, Philippines Subic Bay Island, Japan, Korea, and Australia.

Currently he is employed at the VA as a Peer Support Specialist in Behavioral Health’s Mental Health Clinic, Inpatient Psych, Residential Rehab and Outpatient, and a Veteran Mentor. He understands the true meaning of “Leave No Veteran Behind” He is willing to help all veterans as they helped him, from any era to the best of his ability
