It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero from Wilson, NY is from the United States Air National Guard.  It’s Master Sergeant Gary Darnell!

Gary joined the Nation Guard in his senior year of high school. He did his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri. After schooling he was assigned to an engineering company in Lockport. Through the years Gary has been assigned to several units in the WNY area. He has been deployed to Afghanistan 2 times. He is currently to Medical unit based out of the Connecticut Street Armory. Gary resides in Wilson with his wife Tammy. In Gary's spare time he serves the Village of Wilson as a trustee and is also a 35 year member for the Wilson Volunteer Fire Co.

This week, we would like to recognize Gary Darnell as our Hometown Hero!

Unfortunately we did not get a picture of Gary with his nomination so we couldn’t post it here.  However, if you would like to nominate your own Hometown Hero, just click the button below. We like to honor both active duty and veteran heroes from right here in Western New York.

Thanks once again to Gary Darnell from the United States Air National Guard, our Hometown Hero of the week!
