Another country legend has passed away. Today, April 6, is Merle Haggard's birthday.  However, now according to multiple sources, he has passed away at the age of 79 on his birthday.

He was one of the "Bakersfield Sound" pioneers along with Buck Owens and was known as one of country music's outlaws.

His honky tonk music helped to lay the foundation for many of today's outlaws as well.

Some of his biggest hits included "Okie From Muskogee", "Mama Tried."  and "The Fightin' Side Of Me."

He has had plenty of health issues recently and has been battling double pneumonia.  He cancelled all of his shows last week to help him recover.  He was a country legend and he will be missed.
