Buffalo State Senator Timothy Kennedy attended a rally in downtown Buffalo yesterday that was meant to generate more support for an increase in minimum wage. But, how close are they?

Kennedy says that the increase is needed to bring low wage earners out of poverty. The Coalition of Economic Justice organized this rally, which happened down on Franklin Street, to increase minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $9 per hour.

The price of everything is going up. I mean, it takes a half hour of work just to pay for a gallon of gas. If your trying to support a family on minimum, it is nearly impossible. Even Governor Cuomo is now pushing state lawmakers to raise New York's minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $8.75 an hour. President Obama wants it even higher; he wants to put the minimum wage at the federal level at $9.

One thing is certain: In the polls, it is consistent across New York that there needs to be an increase in minimum wage.

How much do you think minimum wage should go up to?
