Worldwide some 200 million people buy or sell 1 billion items eBay every year, trading $2,000 worth of goods every second. More than a million people trade on eBay as a full-time job. And while the eBay auctions are best known for finding bargains there also have been some very expensive items sold on eBay.

    A Former U.S. Missile Base

    It was built during the cold war in Saranac Lake, NY. The missiles are long-gone, but the missile silo is still in tact. With walls that are 3-feet thick it was built to withstand a nuclear attack. An anonymous couple bought it for $2.1 million.
