When you live in Los Angeles you never think you're going to come in contact with wildlife the size of a mountain lion.  But that's exactly what happened to auto repair shop owner Hank Bakerfelt.  Last Friday morning as he opened his shop a mountain lion lunged at him and knocked him to the ground.

The mountain lion apparently became trapped inside the fenced-in lot and couldn't get out.  After lunging at Bakerfelt when he arrived, the cat appeared to be just as scared as he was.

Bakerfelt wasn't hurt.  He says he wasn't bitten or scratched.  The cat wasn't aggressive at all.

Wildlife officials were brought in.  They tranquilized the mountain lion and moved it to a more remote location.

Hank Bakerfelt is a mechanic so he's not used to dealing with nature, but Friday morning it knocked him to the ground.

Bakerfelt told KCTV, "I hear the stories but you never think it's going to happen to you."

He says a mountain lion lunged at him as he was opening up his auto shop. Fortunately the big cat was also pretty scared and ran off.

He told KABC he feels very lucky.

"She wasn't aggressive at all. No teeth, no nothing. She wasn't very aggressive at all."

Once Bakerfelt composed himself, he says he called for help.

The lion was trapped on the lot by a high fence and wildlife officials came and tranquilized the animal and removed it. Officials say they plan to release her in a remote area.
